channel or connected tool?#

The Slack channel lets people message Puffle in Slack. A Slack plugin connection gives Puffle tools for working with Slack content. Setting up one does not automatically set up the other.

connect the channel#

Open Plugins, find Slack under Channels, and use the installation flow shown there. Complete Slack’s authorization with an account allowed to install apps for that Slack workspace.

One Slack installation belongs to one Puffle workspace. Check both workspace names before authorizing. If installation is unavailable, contact your workspace admin or support.

start a conversation#

In a channel, @mention Puffle to start a conversation. Once it has replied in the thread, you can continue without tagging it when your message clearly follows up on its answer or task.

If you tag another person or bot without tagging Puffle, Puffle stays quiet. For untagged messages, it checks the recent conversation and stays quiet when the message seems meant for someone else or the recipient is unclear. This check can make mistakes; @mention Puffle whenever you want to make sure it answers, including when returning to an older thread.

Untagged follow-ups require a fresh, complete thread-history read from Slack. If Slack rate-limits that read, history is unavailable, or the thread is too long to fit in one response, Puffle stays quiet. Tag Puffle to continue in those cases.

In a direct message with Puffle, no @mention is needed.

Start with a simple question about its available capabilities before asking it to perform work in another tool.

People in the connected Slack workspace can message Puffle even if their email is not attached to a Puffle account. Treat the channel as a workspace entry point when deciding what shared context belongs there.

automate a delivery#

When an automation should send a Slack update, include the intended destination in its draft and review it before activation. A result in automation run history is not automatically sent to Slack.
